Cassie Logan, her brothers Stacey and Little Man, and their friend TJ are learning the facts of life in Jim Crow Mississippi, where people of color are to keep off the sidewalk and have to take low to the white business owners and landowners.

But when the Logan family decides to lead a boycott against the local store owner who was responsible for the murder of a member of their community, the stakes of their peaceful resistance are put to the test, and the children learn to find their inner resolve, and become the heroes of their own story.

Adapted from Mildred D.Taylor’s prize-winning book, this is an excellent addition to your 4th through 8th grade Black History month curriculum. Available at locations throughout the Chicagoland from late January through early March.
